Last night was the final night of the God story at the Boiler Room KC. It is such a bummer. For the past 9 months we have been walking through the bible in chronological order telling the stories in narrative form. It has been amazing and this week was no exception. The God story finished with a bang as we covered the book of Revelation.
We talked about the revelation of Jesus Christ as Ruling King, Holy Judge and Waiting Groom and how He is the central character of the book. We used our imaginations to picture the scene in Revelation 4 and then sang the hymns of revelation as the story was told. It was so powerful. I have to admit it, I was so moved I was crying. But the best part was the very last sentence that Adam said.
“We have come to the end of the God Story. And as we see it, we begin to cry out, bring the end of the story here now! Kingdom of God come to KC! That is prayer. It is a bride having made herself ready crying out. Then the Holy Spirit will walk the bride down the aisle to meet the bridegroom and that’s how the story ends.”
And that was the end of the night. In nine months we went from meditating on the pre-existence of God in the first words, “In the beginning, God,” all the way through the fall, the patriarchs, the wilderness, the exile, the life of Jesus, the early church and right up until the end-times. It was quite an amazing journey. I wish that I could do it all over again. Maybe someday I could get a group of friends together to go on the same journey, discovering the God Story: the great story of God revealing himself to His people. If only I could convince my prayer room team…hmm..it’s a thought…
What a journey – sounds amazing!

And this is why I like going to church. Can’t they roadtrip it down to TX for me? You can preach it to me this summer. I am an open ear and open mind.
